Career
R. Shyam made his debut with the Tamil daily soap Puthu Kavithai in 2013. The serial depicts the story of a woman (Maheswari) who will do anything to fight for her rights.
Shyam rose to fame with his role in the Tamil television series Eeramana Rojave as Pugazhandi. Malarvizhi falls in love with Maran and they decide to get married. On their wedding day, Maran dies in an accident and his younger brother Vetri is forced to marry Malarvizhi. The story then revolves around the married life of Vetri and Malar.
He was later cast in several other television serials such as Aranmanai Kili as Selvam, Saravanan Meenatchi as Gautham, Nenjam Marappathillai as Santhosh and Pagal Nilavu as Rathnam.
He is currently working in the romantic drama serial Valli Thirumanam as Karthik opposite Nachathira. The story follows the life of a mischievous girl Valli (Nachathira) who is a bold and arrogant moneylender. Karthik is a gentle and kind man looking for a bride who has the same qualities as him.

Shyam married his old girlfriend Sandhiya Nambiar. The couple were in a relationship for over 11 years before they took the leap of faith. They both often give major couple goals with their fun pictures and videos.
