“It’s two steps forward, three steps back, and I’m tired of it,” the character admits. Thankfully, he has his best friend and agent, Susie, played by Alex Borstein, who always supports him.
“Here it is. It’s break time,” Susie declared. “They’re going to see you for what you are – a damn star.”

Brosnahan Was Told He Wasn’t Funny In The Past
Although the Wisconsin native has performed exceptionally well as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, her past has not prompted her to pursue her funny side. According to The Blast, before starring in the comedy show, the 32-year-old actor admitted that he was always told he wasn’t funny enough for comedy.
He spoke candidly about it at the series’ FYC event at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, noting that he spent the first few years of his career being advised to choose another profession.
It wasn’t an insult to Brosnahan because he saw it as a professional advising him to “go in a different direction” and “maybe consider something here.”
