Career

Rajat Tokas started his acting career in 1999 as a child artiste by playing the role of ‘Ashu’ in the Doordarshan TV serial “Bongo.” After that, she appeared in shows like “Jadui Chirag,” “Rumah Api,” “Ek Nazar Ki Tamanna,” “Mere Dost,” and “Khoj Khajana ki.” In 2005, he played the role of ‘Tantya,’ Sai Baba’s elder brother in the TV series “Sai Baba.”

After that, she appeared in TV series like “Dharam Veer,” “Keshav Pandit,” “Tere Liye,” and “Bandini.” In 2013, Rajat won the role of “Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar” in the historical drama “Jodha Akbar.” His performance in the show was appreciated by the audience and also won him several awards.

Controversy

  • Rajat played the role of ‘Akbar’ in the TV series “Jodha Akbar.” The series faced severe objection by the Rajput Kshatriya Akhil Bharatiya Sabha, as according to them, wrong facts were presented in the show.
  • The actor is still in controversy because of his boring attitude and rude behavior. Apparently, Rajat was involved in a fight with the spot boys on the sets of Jodha Akbar. Tokas repeatedly behaved rudely with the spot boys, after which they beat the actor after his filming. However, the actor is said to have denied the incident.
  • Rajat is also rumored to be in a cold war with Jodha Akbar’s co-star Paridhi Sharma. In fact, it is said that when the director of the show misbehaved with Paridhi, Rajat took the director’s side.

  • Initially, Rajat was supposed to play the young version of ‘Prithviraj Chauhan’ only for a few episodes. However, the audience liked her performance so much that the makers decided to extend her role for a few months.
  • Surprisingly, Rajat was not the first choice to play the role of ‘Akbar’ in the historical drama “Jodha Akbar.” Initially, Avinesh Rekhi was considered for this role.
  • Rajat prepared extensively for his role as ‘Chandragupta Maurya’ for the TV series “Chandra Nandini.” He learned to ride a horse, underwent weapons training, learned to walk in a certain way, and modified his voice and body language in different ways to justify his character. He also watched documentaries and read books about the Mauryan Empire.
  • When Rajat finished shooting for the show “Jodha Akbar,” Ekta Kapoor asked Tokas not to look for another script. Tokas, still trusting him, waits for him to think of something, and after a while, he offers Chandra Nandini to him.
