Rajesh Jais is an Indian theater artist and TV & film actor, who has appeared in various Hindi films and TV series. She is best known for playing the role of Nanu in the Hindi TV series ‘Shanti’ (1994).

Rajesh Jais was born on Saturday, 6 September 1969 (age 53 years; in 2022) in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He attended a government school in Kantatoli, Ranchi, Jharkhand. He later attended Shradhanand Seva Ashram High School and Gauri Dutt Mandelia High School in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He continued his studies at Marwari College, Ranchi. He was an NCC Air Force Cadet and Scout in his college.
In 1988, he pursued a postgraduate course in English Journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC, JNU, New Delhi). From 1998 to 1991, he attended a postgraduate diploma course in acting at the National School of Drama, New Delhi. In 1992, he passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) for fellowship in PhD and lecturership. He has also qualified for Asstt. Coast Guard Commandant and Territorial Army Lieutenant.

After completing his studies, he started performing in theater plays under the guidance of his college professor Ajay Malkani. He has worked as a theater artist in various theater plays such as Mughal E Azam, Summer Folk, Yahudi Ki Ladki, Hiroshima My Love, and Different Stories.

In 1995, she made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Oh Darling Yeh Hai India’ where she played the role of an Eunuch.
He has appeared in several other Hindi films such as ‘Gandhi The Mahatma’ (2010), ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ (2018), ‘Kalank’ (2019), ‘Indoo Ki Jawani’ (2020), and ‘Tu Jhoothi Makkaar Main’ (2023).

- While he was in school, he joined the NCC. While studying in college, he did training at no. 02 Bihar Air Squadron NCC, Ranchi in Air Force Attachment Course. He did several other courses such as Vayu Sainik course, Gliding, Aero-Modelling, Gun shooting, 22 Rifle, 303 Rifle, Light Machine Gun (LMG), 12 Bore Double Barrel Gun, .38 Revolver, and Camping.
- In 1981, he commanded the contingent for the ‘Guard of Honour’ to the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi at BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. In the same year, he received the Presidential Scout from the then President of India Morarji Desai.
- He trained in Indian classical music under his teacher Vinod Pathak.
- Before embarking on her career as an actress, she used to maintain accounts at a tailor’s shop and used to take tuition classes simultaneously.
- In the 1994 Hindi TV series ‘Shanti,’ she was initially offered the role of a peon. In an interview, while talking about her role in Shanti, she said,
On the first day of Shanti’s shoot, when I went to the sets, I was dressed like a peon. An assistant came and asked me to take a picture while giving me a glass of water. I went to director Adi Pocha and said that I will not play the role of a peon. I would do this role at first, then I would always be typecast in the same role. They say that you do five episodes, then your role will be something else. Then I became Nanu Jasoos.”
