Wiki/Biography

IAS Ranbir Sharma was born on Monday, 7 September 1981 (age 39 years; in 2020) in Haryana. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He is pursuing a B.Sc. in Physics from MD University Rohtak, Haryana. Later, he did his B.Ed. from Delhi University. He then appeared for the civil services exam and cleared it.

Career

After clearing Civil Services Examination followed by interview, on 3rd September 2012, he started his training (Lower Scale) at LBSNAA Mussoorie. On 25 April 2013, he was appointed as Assistant Collector (Lower Scale) in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. He then worked as SDO (Junior Scale) in Kanker, Chhattisgarh from 14 August 2014 to 3 September 2015. He was then appointed as Under Secy (Junior Scale) in School Edu Deptt, Raipur. On 1 January 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer at Panchayats Deptt. In 2020, he was appointed as the fifth collector in Surajpur, Chhattisgarh.

Controversy

In 2015, he was accused of accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the Patwari in Bhanupratappur, Chhattisgarh.

In May 2021, a video of Ranbir went viral where he slapped a man for breaking the Covid-19 protocol, and Ranbir also smashed his phone on the ground. Later, Ranbir Sharma apologized for his misbehavior through a video. He said,

The boy first said he was going to get a vaccination, however, he showed a receipt unrelated to the vaccination. He then said he was going to see his grandmother. I slapped him in the heat. I never intended to disrespect or belittle the people in the video. In this pandemic situation, Surajpur district along with the entire state of Chhattisgarh has faced irreparable loss of life. All of us state government employees are working hard to deal with this problem.”
