Chris Beard is now engaged to Randi Trew. He was recently arrested for domestic violence. The coach was arrested from his home after a woman accused him of “assaulting and choking” on December 12. The DailyMail confirmed that Chris was booked for third-degree assault at 4:18am local time. He was charged with “Assault on family/household member obstructing breathing.”
He was posted a $10,000 bond and later released from the Travis County Jail. An arrest affidavit is not available at this time, according to the Travis County Clerk’s office. Beard’s attorney, Perry Minton, told the Austin American-Statesman that his client is ‘100 percent innocent of these charges.’
“He should never have been caught,” Minton told the paper. “The complainant wants him released immediately and all charges dismissed. It is truly unimaginable.”
After midnight, according to Austin police, they received a report of a “hot disturbance,” and officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Austin residences on Vista Lane. On that street, Beard has an address listed. The department’s website defines a “hotshot call” as “an event that is currently occurring [and] pose an imminent threat to life and/or public safety.”
With a 7-1 record, the Longhorns are currently ranked second overall in the Associated Press poll. On Monday night, they will visit Rice, an in-state foe. Beard left Texas Tech in 2021 and is currently in his second season at Texas. The school also released a brief statement following the arrest: “The university is aware of the situation regarding Chris Beard. We continue to gather information and monitor the legal process.”

“I really enjoyed my time coaching at Frenship and am looking forward to the next chapter in my life,” Randi, who was named the District 2-6A coach of the year, told AJ Media via text. “The players have made it so special for me, and I will cherish every team and season; it’s all part of what leads to the success of the program as a whole. Special thanks to my coaching staff for their hard work and the campus administration for all their support.”
In 2022, Randi may work at the Texas Titans Volleyball Club as a coach.
