Rani Chatterjee made her debut with the 2004 Bhojpuri film “Sasura Bada Paisawala” with Manoj Tiwari.
She has acted in several hit films such as Bandhan Toote Na, Damaad Ji, Sita, Devra Bada Satawela (2010), and Rani No. 786 (2013). She is also known for her role in Nagin (2015). She made her singing debut in the movie ‘Raja Weds Rani’ with the songs “Ka Ho Ka Haal Chaal Ba” and “Chala Long Drive Pe.”
Politics
On 25 January 2022, he used social media to announce that he had joined the Indian National Congress; he joined the Congress after the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Controversy
- Ajay Pathak, a school teacher masquerading as a ‘tantrik (sorcerer)’ once threatened to kill Rani Chatterjee using ‘Mantras (Mantras),’ if she did not pay him more than Rs. 15 Lakh. It was discovered that he was in league with a lyricist named Ritu Raj, who planned to share the money by threatening him. Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh came forward and publicly apologized to her for the incident. However, the police investigation did not conclude that Pawan Singh had anything to do with the threat.
- He was brutally beaten on social media after his comments about Bhojpuri stars Dinesh Lal Yadav, Khesari Lal Yadav, and Pawan Singh. In an interview when he was asked to give his views on Khesari’s upcoming film “Dabangg Sarkar,” he said that he has not watched the films of Bhojpuri actors- Khesari, Nirahua or Pawan Singh. He added that he was tired of watching the same faces over and over again and therefore did not watch their movies.
