Rao Ramesh was born on Saturday, 25 May 1968 (age 53 years; in 2021) in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, and grew up in Chennai. His zodiac sign is Gemini. He attended Sri Ramakrishna Mission School in T. Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He pursued his B.Com from a college in Chennai and thereafter pursued a course in mass communication. He then took a professional course in still photography. He also applied for a course in live action and animation at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, California, but his parents did not allow him to follow it.

He was supposed to make his debut in a TV series directed by South Indian director Ghantasala Ratna Kumar around 2001 or 2002, but the project was shelved. She then appeared in several Telugu TV serials like ‘Pavithra Bandham’ and ‘Kalavari Kodalu.’ In 2002, he made his debut in the Telugu film ‘Seema Simham’ where he played the role of Hema’s elder brother. He has played important roles in many Telugu films such as ‘Avakai Biryani’ (2008), ‘Magadheera’ (2009), ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ (2013), ‘S/O Satyamurthy’ (2014), ‘A Aa’ (2016), ‘RX100’ (2018), ‘RX100’ (2018).

Till 2021, she is shooting for Telugu films ‘Bheemla Nayak,’ ‘Bangarraju,’ and ‘Anni Manchi Sakunamule.’

He made his Tamil debut with the film ‘Kadhalna Summa Illai’ (2009) playing a Dalit character. He later appeared in Tamil films including ‘Easan’ (2010), ‘Saagasam’ (2016), and ‘Jai Bhim’ (2021).

Facts/Trivia
- When he was in class 12, he wanted to drop out of school and study still photography. He used to go to the British Library and the American Library to study books on photography. There he spent hours reading books, and one of his favorite books was C. Narayana Reddy’s ‘Kavitha Naa Chirunama.’
- In an interview, recalling his days of struggle, he said,
I joined KS Prakasa Rao (brother of K Raghavendra Rao) as an assistant. But he did not give any small work because of the respect he gave to my father. At that time cinematographer VSR Swamy encouraged me and sent me to his friend in Bangalore. I learned about industrial photography there. They use Cinar cameras which cost around 16 lakh each. I also applied for a course in live action and animation at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, California. But my parents didn’t want to get into it.
He further added,
Some people advised me to produce a film and I tried to do it with a popular director, but I lost money because the film never took off. I also started a mushroom business in Chennai, but it didn’t work. At that time, my mother advised me to try acting. As I respected his words, I decided to try acting and shifted to Hyderabad. I then called the writer and actor Omkar. He promised to give me a role in his serial, and the next day, I got a call from Balaji Telefilms quoting his reference. I bagged the TV serial Sudigundali and acted in nearly 50 episodes, receiving Rs 7,500 for the work, all of which I gave to my home workers.”
- In 1994, he wanted to study photography and animation in the US, but due to the death of his father in the same year, he canceled his plans.
- In an interview, he was asked, if he had any regrets about his father, he replied,
yes. I should have interacted with him for more time. My conversation with him for the rest of my life will not exceed one page. He is like a tiger at home. I wish I could interact with him more and share as much joy with him as many of my friends do with their respective parents.”
