On Tuesday, Dupart responded to Instagram critics who claimed they were avoiding having black children. In the comments of the post reporting the news of their donor choice, he wrote, per Insider“Black men make up less than 5% of the donation pool.”
Dupart explained that he and Brat extended their decision to get more options. He wrote, “We waited a few weeks to see if the pool increased. But unfortunately, with the time frame we had to choose between 6-8 weeks, there were no new black donors that matched my genetic testing.”
Da Brat & Jesseca Dupart Announce Their Pregnancy In February
Brat and Dupart first revealed their pregnancy in February of this year. During the interview with Many people Magazine at the time, the couple talked about their difficult fertility journey and shared a traumatic experience.
The 49-year-old Brat said, “We were so happy, happy, happy, and then it was like depression. I’ve never been so excited about something I didn’t know I wanted, and then I fell in love with the idea, and everything was taken away from me.”
She went on to express their joy that their second round of insemination was successful and called the pregnancy a “blessing.” Brat added, “I never thought I’d have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I feel like because I didn’t get pregnant sooner, it wouldn’t have happened for me. “
