A few months ago, fans begged NPR to let Juvenile perform some of his classics in the room. Did they ever think it would happen? No, but here we get an all-strings version of “Back That Azz Up.”

The room was full of New Orleans energy as the rapper was hyped by Manny Fresh, who got on the piano and played the damn thing at one point. The instruments that accompany the rapper are trumpet, saxophone, rhythm guitar, etc.

The backup singer wore the khaki jumper popularized by rappers in his day. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that she looks happy, healthy and comfortable back in action.

What is your favorite song?

The rapper does something special with all the songs he performs. He slowed down “Rodeo” and added a sultry backup singer. The harsh lyrics are matched with a sweet and melodious beat; it’s an undeniable combo. “Well, Juvenile doing Rodeo for Tiny Desk is ART,” wrote one fan of the show he appeared on.

The two performed their song “I Need A Hot Girl” and lit up the small room. Everyone is bouncing and jamming together. This moment is on pace to be just as epic as Usher’s Tiny Desk appearance nearly a year ago.

“For Tiny Desk to make me Set It Off on Friday!! @juviethegreat does what needs to be done in matching Burberry with Soulja Rag! I need all of these! ?,” praised a fan.

Another fan took to Twitter to agree. “Wait, the NPR Juvenile Small Table is about my whole life today. His phrasing, diction and ability to rock with a live band reminded me that these guys are second-line descendants.”

That famous intro when he picked the strings before the rapper performed “Back That Azz U,” the violinist knew what he was doing. He smiled, and the crowd went loud instantly. Even Manny Fresh looked surprised and excited at the same time as if he didn’t know the order of the setlist.

The song will do that to you. “Yoooooo. Juveniles are NOT coming to play with you all at this Small Table. I just watched Back That Azz Up with STRINGS. Yes, friend. This is the performance of the 5 BEST TINY TABLES. Period.”

It Can Be Very Wild

Manny Fresh teased fans at one point, leading them to believe that “Go DJ” was coming. He plays a few notes on the piano, and Juvenile yells “go DJ” the crowd goes wild, but they stop there.

Now we need Lil’ Wayne and the whole Cash Money crew to come in and drop beat after beat! Tiny Desk is having an interesting year; word on the street is that Chloe Bailey is filming Tiny Desk as we speak!

Photos make the rounds of the singer in a casual setting, singing his heart out.
