A German rapper who lost most of his skull when his drug lab exploded also reflected on prison time for the explosion, which he called “the biggest mistake of my life.”
Niko Brenner, 39, was making hash oil called “Nazi gold” when it was combined with butane gas and exploded in his Cologne studio in 2017, throwing him onto the street and leaving him in a coma for three months, Bild said.
The rapper known as Dr. The knarf has finally had half his skull removed — with shocking photos showing it completely curved on the right side, like a partially deflated ball.
The father-of-one is also paralyzed on one side after his injuries led to a series of strokes.
On Thursday, he had to be brought to the Cologne Regional Court, where he said he took “full responsibility” for the life-changing explosion as prosecutors sought to have him locked up for at least five years for it and drugs.
“What I did was the biggest mistake of my life,” he told the court.

“I have been severely disabled since that day and will bear the consequences for the rest of my life. I can’t see my son grow up, my relationship is strained,” he said.
“Of course I’m sorry about everything now. … I am a serious addict and live in my bubble. I’m not worried about the potential risks.”

Brenner admitted that he intended to produce and distribute hash oil — also known as “dab” — saying he “chose the name ‘Nazi gold’ because I just wanted to provoke.”
The prosecution, however, is expected to argue that the name glorifies Adolf Hitler’s fascist rule — which could add an extra year to Brenner’s sentence.

It is believed that the explosion may have been ignited from a switch on the refrigerator, the Cologne Review said. The apartment building where the recording studio is located sustained serious damage totaling more than $16,300, the outlet added.
Apart from Brenner and his co-accused – known only as “Esat B” – no one was injured.

Prosecutors said they would seek at least five years in prison – but Brenner’s lawyers argued that he should be credited for his confession and grievous bodily harm.
“My client made a full and comprehensive confession. Not only his appearance is different. He has also changed internally,” asserted lawyer Marco Heymann.
“He was just happy to be alive. Now he wants to focus on his future,” he added.
A decision is expected next month.
