A rare blue supermoon — the closest full moon of the year — dazzled stargazers on Wednesday night.
Saturn joins the celestial glasses, visible with the moon, at least where the sky is clear.
It is the second full moon of August, hence the blue label.
And it is unusually close to Earth, hence the supermoon.
The Moon appears larger and brighter than usual, given its close proximity to Earth: only 222,043 miles or so.

The August 1 supermoon is more than 100 miles away.
If you miss it, it’s going to be a long wait: The next blue Supermoon isn’t until 2037.
But another regular supermoon is on the horizon at the end of September, the last of the year.
