Representative Rashida Tliab has come under fire online after publicly defending those who chant genocide against Jews.
Tliab, a member of the far left squad and the first Palestinian ever elected to Congress, insisted that the chant“From the River to the sea Palestine will be free” is actually “an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence”
The line — a favorite of terrorists Hamas and Hezbollah — is widely understood as a hateful and antisemitic call to eliminate the state of Israel in its current form from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
American-Israel Public Affairs Committee have said the phrase describes a literal call for the genocide of the Jews.
Tlaib’s defense came after he posted a video featuring the phrase — which also condemned President Biden for supporting Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.

The backlash against Tlaib on X was intense.
“Hamas supporters have infiltrated the Congress hall,” said Noah Tishbyformer Israeli Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism.
“‘From the river to the sea’ is a chant that fundamentalist Islamist terrorists have been fighting for years, and it calls for the cleansing of ethnic Jews from their ancestral land.”

Actor Dean Cain called Tliab “dead wrong” and “disgraceful.”
“It is a call for genocide. The genocide of the Jews, and the end of Israel. You support terrorism,” he said.
Criticism also came from Tlaib’s House colleagues.

“‘From the river to the sea’ is a call to eliminate the State of Israel. If that’s aspirational to you, that’s a problem. Stand With Israel,” said Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.).
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga) called on Tlaib to resign.
