Rebel Wilson & GF Called ‘Hypocrites’ For Partying In Dubai, Despite Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws

Is Rebel Wilson no longer an ally of the LGBTQ+ community? That’s the billion-dollar question on the mind of the freak king and queen as the latest trip of the Australian sensation and his girlfriend Ramona Agruma leaves fans divided.

The cute couple couldn’t have picked a worse time to visit the UAE hot spot, the luxury city of Dubai.

Over the weekend, same-sex couples visited the tourist dreamboat hub for the grand opening of Atlantis The Royal Hotel which featured a spectacular performance by Beyoncé. The couple were among the star-studded guest list; however, attending the lavish ceremony was a blow to the LGBTQ+ community, according to some fans.

Furious Fans Want Rebel Wilson’s Gay Card Canceled For Partying In Dubai

Last year, the “Pitch Perfect” star won the hearts of thousands around the world after revealing his relationship with Latvian beauty Agruma. Although Wilson had been an ally of the community before coming out, the actor may have lost his place in the LGBTQ+ world.

On Sunday, the 42-year-old shared a video montage highlighting some of the great experiences he had with his partner in Dubai. During their stay, TV personalities and Agruma came out in their best clothes.

As shown in the Instagram clip, the couple stayed in a celebrity-worthy suite with a pool big enough for 20 people. The “Senior Year” star and her beau enjoyed various parts of the resort, including breaking the boards with critically acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa. This happened at the opening of another eponymous restaurant franchise of the founder.

For the grand opening of Atlantis The Royal Resort, Wilson and Agruma were treated to a spectacular light show and a concert from Beyoncé. It marked Queen Bey’s long-awaited return to the stage in four years, and the lovebirds happily cheered the singer on from their seats.

From their excited demeanor to their fun throughout the montage, it’s clear that the blonde couple are having the time of their lives in Dubai. Likewise, the 42-year-old recounted his experience in the caption by writing, “Atlantis The Royal is BEYond! Weekend with BEY!”

However, unlike their usual love posts, most reacted negatively to the couple’s happiness. Several expressed disappointment at the Australian’s decision to promote Dubai. For those unaware, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has little to no tolerance for the LGBTQ+ community with its strict laws.

One angry fan wrote, “Aren’t you a member of the LGBTQ+ community? The hypocrisy of it all.” A second individual voiced their support by reminding the “Bridesmaids” cast of the death penalty in this country for homosexuality. The “hypocritical” comments didn’t end there as more people voiced their displeasure.

“Hypocrisy at its best @rebelwilson. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I thought you would know the law against us there,” said another. Other fans called out the Teen Choice Award winner for flaunting her privilege.

“Oh, the privilege. What about other LGBTQ people,” one asked rhetorically while another wrote cynically, “it’s a strange place to be and promote when you’re in a same-sex relationship.

The criticism worsened when several people shared their concerns about the UAE’s Anti-LGBTQ law. One stated that their homosexual friend had to book a two-room apartment because they feared the possibility of attracting the authorities.

However, the majority couldn’t believe their idol would ignore the plight of LGBTQ+ members in the UAE and proudly promote content for the country.

Beyoncé Faces Blacklash For Expensive Dubai Concert Amid Anti-LGBTQ Laws

Wilson isn’t the only celebrity in the hot seat as the DailyMail reports that Queen B faced similar criticism for her performance in Dubai. The “Halo” singer allegedly received $24 million to headline the opening of Atlantis the Royal, and fans are not happy.

The Grammy-winning artist who dedicated his latest album, “RENAISSANCE,” to his late uncle Johnny, a member of the gay community, has been dragged for hypocrisy. One user summed up people’s thoughts perfectly in a comment that read:

“So wait, let me straighten @Beyonce out with an entire album dedicated to the LGBTQ community and then perform for the first time in years in Dubai?! The same Dubai that is so homophobic…?”

On a similar note, other fans believe that the “Partition” singer is betraying the LGBTQ+ community for payment, while some accuse Beyoncé of supporting the poet just to boost her career.
