More than 150 vintage video games in storage dating back to the 1990s could lead to a six-figure salary for a Nebraska man who owns the collection.
Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis games once sold at an Omaha video game store that closed in 1998 are back on the market after recently being certified, sending video game lovers into a frenzy.
Dubbed the Nebraska Collection, the cache of 173 cartridges could fetch somewhere in the six-figure dollar range, Chris Kohler, a collector and editorial director at Digital Eclipse, recently told NPR.
The game was formerly in a store owned by Mark Odorisio, the outlet reported.
He put the games in storage and only revisited the storage a few years later, which included hundreds of factory-sealed games. Discs have been evaluated and verified, with 173 games considered the most valuable.

“I said, ‘Mark, you have to make a decision on this game. What’s your plan?’” Mark’s brother Tim Odorisio recalled to NPR. “He said, ‘Okay, I’ll just keep it and then when I die, it’ll go to the kids.’ I said, ‘We can’t … your heart is in the right place, but your mind is not right.’”
Chris Thompson, who owns a chain of video game stores in Nebraska called Gameroom, is helping the brothers in their efforts to resell the game.
He released a video in February 2022 about the amazing collection in several boxes.

One of the most notable games is a copy of Chrono Trigger, which is a cult classic role-playing game.
“The game itself is just a masterpiece of the video role-playing game genre that … many people would say is the best video game RPG ever made,” Kohler told NPR. “Basically, this is as good a copy of the game as you’ll ever see.”
He believes a single game could probably sell for $10,000.

Thompson explained in a recent YouTube video that sales of single games are not available, but someone can offer to buy the entire stock.
Sonic the Hedgehog, Jurassic Park, Star Trek and certain sports games are in the collection.
