Rep. Claudia Tenney pushes Congress to hold Energy Secretary ‘accountable’ with impeachment injury: ‘Colossal ego’

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) asked Congress Thursday to open an impeachment inquiry into Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm over her false statements to Congress about her stock ownership.

“Secretary Granholm has admitted to lying to Congress under oath and committing perjury,” Tenney said in a statement obtained by The Post.

“The jury gave Congress a clear reason for impeachment. This is another example of the big ego and arrogance of the Biden administration that Americans hate the most. It is too long for Secretary Granholm to be held accountable for this clear crime and conflict of interest.”

Tenney, 62, announced the impetus for his investigation during a hearing of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

Back in April, Granholm told Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) that he does not own any individual shares.

He was later forced to correct that testimony in a June letter to Congress, in which he revealed that he owned about $120,000 worth of stock in six companies at the time of his April statement.

Granholm also said she had discovered in May that her husband owned $2,457.89 worth of stock in the Ford Motor Company. Both Granholm and her husband have unloaded all the stock.

During Thursday’s hearing, the energy secretary insisted that he had made an honest mistake.

“Of course I don’t believe breaking ethics laws is okay. So did everyone else at the Department of Energy,” Granholm said during a heated discussion with Tenney.

“I made a mistake when I testified saying that I had sold all the stocks. I honestly think we have.”

Tenney also referred to alleged violations of the Hatch Granholm Act, a law that prevents public servants from engaging in political activity.

“Since taking office in January 2021, Secretary Granholm has violated the Hatch Act multiple times,” Tenney said during the hearing.

Granholm, 64, has expressed support for Democrats while working in his official capacity, but was let off with a warning.

Granholm struggled for words as Tenney scolded him for some ethical issues.

“He owns shares of Proterra while his boss, President Biden, repeatedly promotes the company. Her husband owns Ford stock while she herself promotes the company’s work with official sources,” added Tenney.

The former Michigan governor also came under fire after his staff used gas-powered vehicles to raid electric vehicle charging stations during a four-day trip to promote the administration’s green energy initiatives.

“Granholm has made our lives unaffordable and pushed a radical green energy agenda, all while lining his own pockets on the backs of the American people,” Tenney said in a statement. “That’s enough.”
