Members of the House of Representatives blasted President Biden for vacationing in the Caribbean, as the country continues to struggle with an unprecedented border crisis, calling the vacation a “dereliction of duty.”
Biden landed in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands on Wednesday where he lived rent-free in the beach-front home of wealthy friends – the trip comes as major US cities have been overrun by migrants crossing the southern border. In New York City,
“President Biden’s entire presidency has been a vacation from reality — 760,000 illegal immigrants have been found at the border since October,” Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala., thundered to Fox News in an article published Saturday.
The sentiment was also voiced by Rep. Texas GOP. Randy Weber.

“President Biden’s dereliction of duty is on full display as he sits on the beach and ignores the thousands of illegal immigrants who invade our country every day,” Weber said. “America as we know it will be unrecognizable unless this administration comes to the table, starts enforcing the law and stopping the flow of illegal immigrants.”
Rep. Mark Alford, another Texas Republican, added that “our border is a mess” and that the Biden administration “should be ashamed” of its performance on the issue.
There were more than 276,000 migrant encounters in December, the highest on record so far.

In New York City, Mayor Adams has called for drastic cuts to police, libraries and schools in an effort to reallocate more resources to immigrant services.
Biden will remain on the island until January 2. The president stayed at Bill and Connie Neville’s three-bedroom luxury home last year, too — making some news when one of his golf balls flew off the course and was recovered by an 8-year-old boy.
