Fans have a lot of questions about the death hoax now that Lil Tay is officially back on the scene.
The social media sensation stopped broadcasting in 2018 following a bitter custody dispute between her two parents: Angela Tian and Christopher Hope. After teasing that he’ll be going live on Saturdays at 3pm ET all week, the controversial YouTuber makes his return to the social media scene with a brand new music video.

Fans were confused by the video, to say the least. “That’s NOT Lil Tay,” one fan commented. “Back in hiding,” wrote another follower. “Wtf?” a third fan asked. “I thought you were dead,” another follower shared. “YOOOO I spin my fidget spinner remembering 2017,” another fan added. “It’s been six years h— yeah,” another follower agreed.
“You’re kidding,” shared another fan. “He’s getting taller,” another follower said. “He’s making music now?!” asked another fan. “I have a feeling that it was never him, only his parents who were behind him the whole time. And also why is she so sexual in this video, like she’s so exposed? Well that’s not him. It’s the same— just an era,” wrote another follower while another tried that it was only a matter of time until he was old enough to join OnlyFans.
So Who REALLY Created That Fake Death Hoax?

On Tuesday, someone – most likely Lil Tay – took to her Instagram Stories to claim that her father was the one who created her death hoax. “My abusive racist misogynist woman beat father faked my death,” she wrote alongside a photo of her father, Christopher J. Hope.
His father later told TMZ that he was not “responsible” for creating the death hoax that went viral and hinted at taking legal action over the allegations. “The person responsible for the Instagram post, as well as anyone repeating the completely false and libelous allegations in it, will almost certainly be the defendant in a defamation lawsuit,” he said.
“Everything stated is 100% false, and I believe that this should be clear to anyone who knows me or the long history of ridiculous and untrue statements made by various people who have taken control of Instagram accounts,” he added.
Former Social Media Manager Speculates That Lil Tay May Be Behind Death Hoax

On Wednesday, August 9, a statement was posted to his Instagram page, announcing that he and his brother, Jason Tian, had passed away. Jason has yet to speak out about the incident, but Lil Tay’s former social media manager told the Daily Mail that he believes either Tay or Jason was behind the scam as part of a career comeback.
“When I learned about Lil Tay’s claims about his well-being, I was relieved that he was safe. However, I believe the reported hacking incident may not have happened,” he told the outlet. “My rationale for this perspective is twofold: first, the recovery of compromised accounts on platforms like Meta/Instagram typically does not require a 24-hour period,” he added, despite Meta confirming that his account had been hacked.

“Secondly, the actions of Lil Tay’s brother, who is known for his tendency to commit extreme acts, led me to hypothesize an alternative motive behind this incident,” he continued.
“At the same time, if the underlying motive is indeed to rekindle Lil Tay’s prominence in the public sphere, I think that such actions show a certain level of irresponsibility,” added Tsang. “It is important to consider the potential impact of using such tactics, especially given their potential impact on wider audience perceptions and sentiment.”
At this time, it’s still unclear who created the death hoax, but it seems like Lil Tay is anxious to get back into the spotlight.
