TV personality Larsa Pippen recently reacted to a question from a fan about whether her box braids were “culturally appropriate” and may have caused a backlash.
Pippen replied that he was “not white” and explained that the hairstyle in question was his favorite and that he had it since he was young.
The reality TV star has been at the center of controversy, especially for her recent romantic relationship with Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan, 32.

Larsa Pippen Likes to Wear Box Braids
On a trip to the Bahamas for the “RHOM” cast, Pippen, 48, was spotted sporting a box braid. During the “RHOM” reunion, host Andy Cohen fielded a fan question, wondering if Pippen thought the hairstyle was “culturally appropriate.”
“Watching the tease for this season, I noticed you’re wearing a braid in the Bahamas. Fashion wise, you can do it. But do you think it’s really culturally appropriate? I think you will get a lot of backlash,” asked the fan People magazine.
“I mean, I’m not White, so I don’t know — my mom used to wear braids,” Pippen said. “I have a clipper that comes and braids my kids hair every ten days… My kids have literally had braids for the last four years.”
She continued, “I’m going on a trip, I don’t want to deal with my hair, I’m going to have her braid my hair.”
It’s a Family Thing
Pippen doubled down by stating that she has been wearing braids since she was a child and that her African ancestry played a role in this.
“My grandparents are Moroccan. My mom had braids when she was little,” Pippen said. “I’ve braided my hair every time I’ve gone on vacation since I can remember. My honeymoon picture, my hair was in a braid. When I was 18, my hair was in a braid. I always wearing braids while traveling.”

Pippen was previously married to former NBA star Scottie Pippen, with whom she has four children: son Preston, 21; Justin, 18; and Scotty, 22 and daughter Sophia, 14.
She divorced him in 2021 after 24 years together. She is currently dating NBA legend Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan, when they became Instagram official in January.

“I would definitely change my last name for whoever I marry, that’s for sure,” he said.
Cohen questioned her further about the “unusual” dynamic that may have developed as a result of her relationship with Jordan.
“I feel like a lot of people don’t understand, like, I don’t know him,” he explained. “I only got to know him a few years ago. I have never met him before. I was with Scottie last year he was playing with Michael,” he shared. “Michael and his wife are divorced, so I have never met his wife, never met his children. It’s not like we have a close knit family. I never knew them.”

In another part of the reunion episode, Pippen discussed her sexual relationship with her ex-husband, Scottie Pippen. He revealed that they had four sex sessions every night until their separation and divorce in 2021.
“I’ve been married for 23 years, I always have sex like four times a night,” he said. “So three times a week is nothing… I had sex four times a night, every night. I haven’t had a vacation in 23 years.”
Her co-stars on the show looked bewildered as Lisa Hochstein exclaimed, “Your poor vagina!” and Guerdy Abraira questioned whether it included his time on tour with the Chicago Bulls.
He explained that they never broke up because they had a private plane that he flew on with the kids.
Andy Cohen, the host, went on to joke that Marcus Jordan, her current boyfriend, has big shoes to fill. “He wears a size 15 shoe, so I think he’s OK,” he replied.
