Career
During his high school years, Nash began his ice hockey career as a junior in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). In 1999, he caught the attention of OHL scouts while playing for the GTHL. Following that, he was signed by the London Knights for two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. While playing with the London Knights, he earned the Emms Family Award as the League’s outstanding rookie. The Columbus Blue Jackets selected him overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft during the 2002-03 season.
On October 10, 2002, he made his NHL debut, scoring a goal in a 2–1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks. He was nominated for the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s outstanding rookie that season.
