Earlier this month, Rihanna went out to dinner and was photographed in a full fur coat, which according to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), is almost certainly made from real fur. The animal rights organization immediately responded to the photo by sending a letter to Rihanna’s team, which was later shared by an insider. TMZ.

In the letter, PETA said they had seen the fur coat in the photo and pleaded with Rihanna to switch to fake fur clothing. The organization’s senior vice president, Lisa Lange, cited the singer’s growing family, pleading with her to consider the family of animals threatened by fur hunters.

She wrote, “As a mother, you know how it feels to protect and want to make sure no harm befalls your family. Please understand that this desire — this instinct — is shared by minks, foxes, and rabbits who are separated from their families and killed for their fur.”

In the letter, PETA also asked Rihanna to “please help create a kinder world for your children to grow up in” by deciding to stop wearing real fur. They also offered to collect the “Love on the Brain” singer’s woolen clothes and donate them to the survivors of the recent Turkish and Syrian earthquakes.

According to PETA, people in these disaster-stricken countries have a reason to wear natural wool because they were displaced by the earthquake. Millions of people have now been displaced, and with winter coming, they need all the warmth they can get.

The organization ended the letter by offering to send Rihanna a fake fur coat made by the company Unreal Fur. They say the coat will help the singer “stay warm and stylish while making the cruelty-free switch.”
