Rita Ora’s husband Taika Waititi has spilled the tea on what really happened on their engagement day.
More than a year after the singer and her man tied the knot in an intimate Los Angeles affair, the latter has revealed that it was his wife who actually popped the question and not him. Now, years later, the couple shared their wedding photos with Vogue to mark their first year wedding anniversary. During the chat, an effusive Waititi opened up about his wife proposing, stating that he “proposed to me, and I said yes immediately.”
Speaking further, he admitted that they hosted the wedding at their home with “a small group of friends” as opposed to the London and French locations reported by the media. As the conversation unfolded, Ora addressed their feelings about the spread of a false narrative about their marriage, claiming:
“Actually, it’s quite entertaining for us to see the various stories that people make up and always keep them to ourselves. And, I love that we can now share what really happened—and do it on our one-year anniversary, no less!”
A snippet of the interview was shared on Vogue’s Instagram page, prompting fans of the “For You” hitmaker to jump into the comments to share their thoughts. “I think all my femininity will leave my body if I’m ever brave enough to propose to a man … but good for them,” wrote one observer.

Critics opposing Ora’s proposal clearly missed her declaration that her husband “changed” her life. According to an April report from The Blast, the “How We Do” singer began the chat by stating that she had gone through a painful period in her music career, where she lost confidence and felt discouraged as she struggled to make a difference in the industry.
