Robert documented Australia Zoo’s big moment on video and shared it to his TikTok page where more than 13 million people have seen it in just two days.

“This is one of the highlights of my life and one of the most special moments for Australia Zoo,” he said, holding a baby turtle in his hands.

“This is the first Elseya Irwin turtle ever to hatch for any zoological facility anywhere in the world. This species is a turtle that Dad originally found in the wild. And for the first time, we have a little baby.”

As Robert talks about the new addition, he holds him over his new pool so he can have his first swim. He then slowly lowered the baby turtle into the water and watched with emotion as it swam away.

“It was so surreal, and all the stories from Dad about how amazing and beautiful they were,” she continued. “I’m not very emotional. My father would be affected by that.”
