Ronit Roy is an Indian TV & film actor, who mainly works in Hindi and Telugu films. He came into the limelight for playing the role of Rishabh Bajaj in the popular Hindi TV serial ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ (2001).

After a few years of their marriage, the couple got divorced in 1990. A few years later, he met the Indian model and actor Neelam Singh at a friend’s party. Initially, they became friends and soon, fell in love with each other. After dating for around three and a half years, on 25 December 2003, Ronit and Neelam got married.

After completing his hotel management diploma, he moved from Gujarat to Mumbai. When he arrived in Mumbai, for almost a year, he stayed at the residence of director Subhash Ghai, who was his father’s best friend. He started his career by working as an intern at Sea Rock Hotel in Mumbai. During his time there, he took on various tasks such as washing dishes, cleaning, serving tables, and working at the bar. After quitting his job at Seas Rock, he worked as an assistant director with Mukta Arts, a film production company. He then started assisting the Indian directors Sanjeev Sharma and Mansoor Khan in making ad films. Later, he worked as a bodyguard for Aamir Khan for nearly two years as he did not have any acting projects. In an interview, while talking about working with Aamir Khan, he said,

Luckily I worked for Aamir Khan for 2 years. I was his bodyguard. I started my company because I had no work. I got the opportunity to spend time with Aamir Khan, I learned what dedication and hard work are. Then, Ekta Kapoor brought two big serials in my life at that time and I am learning, this cycle continues even today.”

While he was working with Aamir, the Indian producer Ekta Kapoor offered him two popular TV serials. He also worked as a junior artist in a few Hindi films.

Arrested in Rash Driving Case

In October 2011, Ronit Roy was arrested for driving recklessly and ramming into another car. He was driving his Mercedes car when it collided with another car in which a family of four was travelling near Amboli, a suburban area in Mumbai. One of the women in the other car was seriously injured in the crash. Ronit was taken to the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court, where he was granted bail after paying Rs 12,000 as a surety. The charges against him were not very serious, so he was allowed to be released on bail. According to the police, the accident happened at around 6:45 am on Linking Road near Sab TV lane. The occupants of the other car were a husband and wife, Deepak (60) and Kaanta (56), and their daughters Sneha (29) and Pooja (24). They were on their way to a picnic in the hill station of Matheran when the accident occurred. Kaanta suffered severe injuries to her back, Pooja had stitches on her head, and Deepak injured his hand. Sneha only had minor injuries. Ronit took all four of them to Kokilaben Hospital himself, and they were admitted for treatment. Ronit, who lives in the upscale Yari Road area, was driving to his brother Rohit’s house when the accident happened. Both cars were badly damaged in the collision. As a result of the incident, Ronit was arrested and charged under two sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC): Section 279 for reckless driving on a public road and Section 338 for causing serious injuries to others by endangering their lives.

While Ronit was working on the Hindi TV show ‘Adaalat,’ his co-star Sara shared that Ronit used to bad mouth other actors on the sets of the show. In an interview, while talking about it, Sara said,

I am a no-nonsense person. On the day of the shoot, Ronit kept saying that he was acting with a bunch of madcaps. During a particular scene, I had to look down to pause and reflect and he questioned my method of acting.”

She further said that he created hardships for his fellow actors, but they chose to ignore it. His body language and attitude were disrespectful towards others. She said,

I knew someone had to give it back to him; the director and the production house would not tell him anything because of his big celebrity pull. I say many things that I do not remember. I can’t even recollect this actress.”
