Former first lady Rosalynn Carter joined her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, in home hospice care at the couple’s old home in Plains, Ga.
In a brief announcement Friday, the couple’s grandson Jason Carter said the couple “are spending time with each other and their families.
“The Carter family continues to request privacy and remains grateful for the outpouring of love and support,” added the statement, issued by the Carter Center.

The announcement comes almost exactly nine months before Jimmy Carter, 99, entered hospice care following a series of hospital stays.
Jimmy Carter and the former Rosalynn Smith, 96, have been married since 1946 and have lived in the same house since 1961.
President Biden revealed in March that he had been asked to deliver a eulogy for Carter, before realizing that he “shouldn’t” say it publicly.
“I spent time with Jimmy Carter and it eventually caught up with him, but they found a way to keep him around longer than they expected because they found success,” Biden, 80, said at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., a month after Carter entered hospice care.
“He asked me to do his eulogy,” he added before catching himself and saying, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.”
The oldest and longest-serving presidents meet briefly in April 2021 to mark the end of Biden’s first 100 days in office.
