Rosie O’Donnell has set the record straight about her decision to withdraw from “The View’s” tribute to Barbara Walters.
He revealed his absence was a precautionary measure as he might “regret” if he attended. The comedian posted the video in response to fans’ questions about his absence from the tribute.
Other “The View” co-hosts, both past and present, attended the special event, which was hosted in honor of Walters.

In a video she shared on Instagram, O’Donnell revealed why she didn’t make an appearance on “The View” tribute to Barbara Walters.
The comedian and longtime talk show host decided to address the issue of his absence after a follower on TikTok noted that he had observed him at a special tribute to Walter, who recently died at the age of 93.
The 60-year-old, who was wearing a black and white sweater and matching black and metal rimmed glasses, began the video by confirming that he had been invited but was “unable to attend.”
“You know, I don’t want to be in a big group of people — I’m worried that I’m going to be upset and, um, don’t want to do that, so, that’s it,” O’Donnell added, further explaining why he pulled out of the rally.
O’Donnell’s soft-spoken tone throughout the clip reveals that her decision not to attend was well thought out.

“So sad to hear about the death of Barbara Walters. Even 93, man, who wouldn’t take it? What a long and eventful, and legendary life he had. Talked to every prominent world leader in memory, interviewed everybody, anybody, and I was lucky enough to be in his orbit for years,” the comedian lamented Walters in a video he uploaded to Instagram.
O’Donnell also noted their good times together attending Broadway shows and praised her impact in pioneering new heights for women,
He added, “May [Walters] rest in peace and may everyone remember what barriers she broke for women. He really did, he was the first and will always be remembered.”
