Pearson, a star MMA fighter, was first featured on the reality tv program The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom in 2009 when he won the fight and took first place in the lightweight division. Ross earned the Fight of the Night title against Dennis Siver on March 31, 2010, on the night of the UFC fight: Florian vs. Gomi event in Charlotte, US. Then, in 2011, he fought in three fights, two of which he won and one of which he lost to Edson Barboza.
Pearson was named as Team UK trainer for The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes in 2012. He won the fight by TKO in the third round. Pearson met Melvin Guillard at UFC Bout Night 30 on October 26, 2013, and the fight ended in a no-contest after Pearson was cut in the forehead with an accidental illegal knee. On June 7, 2014, he fought Diego Sanchez via Split Verdict, however, the decision was incorrect, so he petitioned the New Mexico Athletic Commission to reschedule the fight according to UFC rules.
