The long-awaited conclusion to the mystery behind Mizell’s death arrived on Tuesday, February 27. Federal jury in Brooklyn slams gunman – Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington – with a guilty verdict for the rapper’s murder.

The two are charged with murder while participating in a narcotics conspiracy and gun-related homicide for fatally shooting Mizell in the victim’s recording studio in Hollis, Queens.

“More than two decades after they murdered Jason Mizell in his recording studio, Jordan and Washington are finally being held accountable for their cold-blooded crimes fueled by greed and revenge.”

The US attorney went on to praise Jam Master Jay as a Hip-hop icon whose accomplishments with Run-DMC originated in their hometown of Queens. He described his death as another “tragedy of a life cut senselessly” before thanking everyone who played a part in getting him justice.

ATF Special Agent John B. DeVito echoed similar sentiments, stating: “Today’s guilty verdicts provide evidence that the passage of time provides no safe haven for those who commit murder.”

The law enforcement gave a special shout out to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), saying: “For us at ATF, our memories are long, and our resolve is strong. We have zero tolerance for those who would take lives, and we are committed to seeing justice done.”

Mr. DeVito also thanked everyone involved in the case and sent his condolences to the “It’s Tricky” rapper’s loved ones. In his words: “We offer our hope to the family, friends and fans of Jason Mizell that today’s decision provides some closure.”

NYPD Commissioner Edward A. Caban also praised his department’s detectives for their help in securing a guilty verdict despite the passage of time. “Cold cases are never forgotten,” he said, adding:

“In the decades since Mr. Mizell was brutally murdered, the world’s greatest detectives have followed every lead until an arrest could be made and a strong case brought to our partners in the US Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York.”

Commissioner Edward continued: “Mr. Mizell’s loved ones – who have long expected and deserve justice – are also patient, and we hope today’s jury verdict brings some closure.”

Jam Master Jay Dies Following Fight With His Killer

A press release revealed the trial revealed a shocking truth about Jay’s Master Clock. Between the 1990s and 2002, the late rapper was involved in arranging the sale of cocaine in kilogram quantities in the Eastern District of New York and other locations.

In August 2002, Mizell reportedly obtained approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine on consignment from a supplier based in California. The cocaine was to be distributed in Maryland by Washington, Jordan, and other conspirators until a dispute between the groups forced the deceased to cut off his killer.

Washington and Jordan felt betrayed by the insult because the drug deal was worth nearly $200,000. The two continued their part in the larger narcotics conspiracy, waiting for the right time to kill Mizell, and that happened on October 30, 2002.

On that fateful day, a conspirator lets criminals into Jam Master Jay’s studio through a fire exit. Then the trio approached the rapper, who was playing with a friend on the couch while talking business with his manager.

Jordan fired two shots at close range, with one hitting Mizell in the head and killing him instantly. A second shot hit the Hip-hop icon’s friend in the leg while the manager tried to flee the scene but was stopped by Washington’s gun in his face and told to lie on the floor.
