Rupam Kaur born as Kanwaljit Kaur Brar was born in 1982 (age 41 years; in 2023) in Punjab, India.
He moved to America in 1985 with his parents when he was three years old. He became inclined to pursue the medical profession after the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 was awarded to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in recognition of the organization’s pioneering humanitarian work on several continents. From 2000-2003, he attended Widener University, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in political science and government. In 2008, he obtained his MD from Drexel University, Philadelphia. In 2012, he completed the Pediatric Residency Training Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, and received board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics. At Drexel University, he was appointed president of Physicians for Social Responsibility. In 2014, he completed the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship Program at SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn and received board certification from the American Board of Allergy & Immunology (General).

In 2018, Rupam Kaur, a divorced single mother living in Denver, agreed to film for the documentary Indian Matchmaking while meeting matchmaker Sima Taparia from India, which will air on Netflix in 2020. The show follows Sima Taparia, a marriage consultant from Mumbai, which tries its best to match its clients with their desired partners through an arranged marriage process. In the show, Sima tells Rupam that her status as a divorced single mother will limit her pool of suitors, and that she has a very slim chance of remarrying. During the show, Rupam didn’t find a match through Sima, but she found a guy through the online dating app Bumble and started dating him.
Relationships/Affairs
In 2019, Rupam was visiting family in New York when she decided to open Bumble. The profile of a man named Nitin caught her attention because it featured a photo of him with his daughter. In an interview, while talking about Nitin’s profile, he said,
I think that’s great because it’s another single parent in a relatively small community.”
After that, she approached Nitin and asked him out immediately but since Nitin was already occupied by his daughter, they could not meet. Later, Nitin flies to Denver, where Rupam lives, for their first date. They have interesting dates that include lunch, drinks at a rooftop bar and hikes, while discovering that they have a lot in common besides their faith and single parenthood, one of which is a love of 90s alternative music. The couple spent the next year going on long weekend dates in cities like Miami and Washington DC Finally, they introduced their daughter to each other. She moved from Denver, Colorado, to New York after her marriage, where she worked at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone.
