Russian rapper threatened with front-line service for scandalous ‘almost naked’ party

The uproar over the Russian rapper’s nudity party has led officials to threaten him with serving on the front lines in Ukraine as punishment.

Instagram influencer Anastasia Ivleeva, 32, hosts a “near-nude” party at Mutabor nightclub in Moscow on Dec. 20, 2023, with rapper Nikolai Vasilyev, 25, known as Vacio, wearing only Balenciaga socks over his pubic as if referring to Red who famous Hot Chili Peppers poster for their “Fight Like A Brave” single.

Vasilyev received a 15-day jail sentence and a fine of 200,000 rubles ($2,258) for promoting “non-traditional sexual relations” at the party, The Telegraph reported.

Vasilyev soon received orders to go to the Moscow recruitment center, but he failed to appear after receiving another 10 days in prison for petty hooliganism and swearing at police officers.

Russian tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets claims Vasilyev suffers from an unspecified medical condition, which may exclude him from service and prevent him from reaching Ukraine’s front lines.

The party sparked an unusually strong and swift response from the Moscow establishment, including state media and Orthodox Church groups.

It dominated Russian headlines for several days, seemingly helping to replace news about inflation and rising food prices, Reuters reported.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed the party “contaminated” those who took part in it.

Conservative politicians and talk show hosts are demanding that those who attended the party face penalties, some of which are linked to a wider crackdown on recession, while attacks in Ukraine continue to take a heavy toll and ordinary people struggle to make ends meet.

The host, Ivleeva, also faces possible jail time after Russian officials suddenly decided to investigate her taxes. Dozens of people have joined a class-action lawsuit seeking to force Ivleeva to pay more than $10 million to pro-war charities.

A pro-Kremlin conservative expert called the event “cynical” at a time when “our people are dying in special military operations and many children are losing their fathers.”

Prominent television propagandist Vladimir Solovyov in a Telegram broadcast called the attendees “animals” and “scum,” claiming “these cruel people … don’t care what’s going on,” The Guardian reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has returned to extreme social conservatism as he faces another election in March that analysts expect him to win easily.

He has also championed gay rights and urged families to have eight or more children.

Other celebrities who appeared at the party “barely naked” lost their contracts to appear at the big televised New Year’s Eve event, and sponsors abandoned them.

At least one celebrity lost a role in a new movie.
