Singer Britney Spears may be able to tell her story in a whole new way.
According to a new report, “American Horror Story” producer Ryan Murphy is looking to work with the 41-year-old pop star and create a new documentary chronicling his 13-year conservatorship.

On Sunday, the Daily Mail reported that “American Horror Story” producer Ryan Murphy is looking to create a tell-all documentary in collaboration with the singer who actually went through conservatorship. The controversial move began in February 2008 and gave her father, Jamie, control over her finances, career and lifestyle.
A judge finally revoked his conservatorship in November 2021 after about 13 years. Although the “Hold Me Closer” singer has a memoir in the works, Murphy also wants to bring Britney’s story to the small screen to attract more fans.
While there are already tons of documentaries about conservatories from Netflix, Hulu, and even the BBC, the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer wasn’t personally involved in the creation of any of the series and made her opinions about them pretty clear in a few posts Instagram for a few months.
Ryan Murphy Doesn’t Want To ‘Be Accused Of Exploiting Britney’

A source told The US Sun that Murphy wanted to continue his working relationship with Britney after directing a 2010 episode of “Glee” in which she appeared. Although a source says that Murphy has yet to approach Britney with his idea, he is reportedly still ‘not going to push Britney into anything she’s not comfortable with.’
“Ryan is openly fascinated by the Britney saga and of course, he’s one of the few filmmakers in Hollywood, maybe the only one, really, with a professional relationship with Britney,” the insider claimed. “He knows it, he knows his world and he knows why his story of conservatorship resonates with so many people.”
“But Ryan hates being accused of exploiting victims and tragedies on his show so this is going to be a very complicated matter, and not something he would consider moving forward without Britney’s full signature,” they added. At this time, it is unclear whether Britney wants to revisit the conservatorship or move on. Despite new reports that her memoir will be released later this year, the “Toxic” singer is tight-lipped about releasing her new memoir.

Just last month, Page Six reported that Britney’s memoir will be available for purchase this fall. The book was written with the help of ghostwriter Sam Lansky, who has profiled Hollywood stars such as Madonna and Adele.
The publisher, Simon & Schuster, is reportedly “thrilled” with what they’ve seen so far and is giving the manuscript a round of legal review before it’s due out this fall. Still, that hasn’t stopped insiders from raving about the draft.
“Britney’s book is a success story. It will include her most vulnerable moments, her childhood – as a little girl with big dreams – her breakup with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship,” a source claimed.
“It’s also a life story, finding a way out of a crippling conservatorship to find happiness with her husband Sam Ashgari,” they continued.
Insider Calls Britney’s Memoir ‘Women’s Empowerment Story’

Another insider claimed that “Britney’s book is very honest and from the heart. No stone was left unturned. It’s really a story of female empowerment – she’s in control of her life.”
Another source called Britney’s new memoir a “gift,” adding, “There are parts of this book that every person—especially every woman—can relate to and feel less alone. He transforms joy and pain into something extraordinary: art.
“This is an inspiring read, not only because it shows the strength of Britney’s spirit, but because her story is told with style, intelligence, wit, honesty, and no self-pity,” they continued. “He won completely in this page.”
They said that the book would “shake the world,” adding, “I believe that it will also be a ground-breaking instant bestseller.”
