Ryan Seacrest is a “don’t drink and hose” kind of guy.
The veteran TV host has some pointers for Andy Cohen and CNN ahead of the New Year’s Eve broadcast.

Cohen has hilariously and drunkenly hosted CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live” with his good friend and fellow TV host, Anderson Cooper, since 2017.
It’s become a tradition for TV stars to enjoy alcoholic drinks live on air, and show off their descent into drunkenness.
While many people enjoy watching Cohen and Cooper laugh their way into the new year, Seacrest feels differently.
Speak to Entertainment WeeklyThe “American Idol” host said, “I don’t advocate drinking when someone is on the air.”
Seacrest has been the longtime host of ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”
“I don’t know how it started as a tradition, but it was probably a good idea [to scale back]CNN,” he told the outlet.
In the past year, Cohen has been involved in so many drinks that he has been called out by Mayor Bill de Blasio and Seacrest.
Last year, Cohen called the Seacrest entertainers “a bunch of losers.”

The ‘Real Housewives’ creator finally apologized for her drunken mistake, but the breakdown left a lasting impression.
“The only thing I’m sorry to say, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast, and I really like Ryan Seacrest, and he’s a great guy,” Cohen said. “And I really regret saying it, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it. I just kept talking, and I shouldn’t have, and I feel bad about it. So that’s the only thing [I regret]. It’s the only thing.”
Cohen Regrets Getting A Little Drunk Towards Seacrest
Seacrest also chimed in on the little thing.
“There are some people who are quite respectable or at least one, right?” Seacrest joked about Cooper and Cohen. “I think there are serious journalists and then my friends who are having a lot of fun, but it might be a good idea [to cut out booze].”
Seacrest found that it was the alcohol that was talking and not Cohen’s or Cooper’s brain or heart.
“[I don’t] think they would have said what they said about our performers if they hadn’t been drinking,” he explained.
When CNN announced they would cut back on Cohen’s alcohol consumption, the “Watch What Happens Live” host had some intention of breaking the rules.

The host shared a clip from an episode of his hit show “Watch What Happens Next” on Instagram, where he responded to CNN’s new rules. The clip begins with Cohen giving the Jackhole of the Day spot to a Diversity article with the headline, “CNN Plans to Tone Down Boozy New Year’s Eve Coverage.”
The producer continues to show the important part of the article. In his words, “The article shows that Anderson and I are still allowed to drink. So, we can all say this for my peace of mind.” He then jokingly shared a clip of himself from last year’s broadcast shouting, “Sayonara, sucka!”
After that, he motioned for the camera to zoom in on his face.
“I just want you to know Anderson and I will be partying harder than we’ve ever been before on New Year’s Eve!” he screamed. “Do you understand me?!” At this passionate declaration, his audience clapped loudly and cheered him on.

While Cohen and Cooper will be allowed to drink while they host the show, reporters and other anchors will be asked to delay the rehearsal.
This sobering update comes after CEO Chris Licht revealed to employees in a November 15 town hall meeting that “he feels drinking on camera is eroding the credibility of CNN staff and damaging the “respect” they may enjoy among viewers.
