Ryanair flight diverted after chaotic mid-air brawl, man dragged off plane by police: ‘Bye bye mate!’

A Ryanair flight from the United Kingdom to the Canary Islands was forced to divert to Portugal after a fight involving eight people broke out mid-flight, according to reports.

A passenger was dragged off the flight and detained when the plane landed in Faro, after a group of drunken tourists sparked a brawl on board, video obtained by The Daily Mail showed.

Ryainair flight 3511 from Luton, London Airport to Lanzaaorte in the Canary Islands took off around 8:15 a.m. and landed in Faro around 10:50 a.m. — nearly an hour earlier than it was supposed to land in Arrecife, according to flight tracking website FlightAware .

Another passenger who filmed the fight told The Daily Mail that there was “a group of men who appeared to be drinking and were harassing some of the female passengers.”

When the disturbance got out of control, a flight attendant tried to intervene, but ended up falling, the witness said.

The commotion prompted the captain to warn passengers over the loudspeaker that “unacceptable behaviour” would not be tolerated, and threatened to land the plane in Portugal, according to passengers.

When passengers refused to stop, they were told 20 minutes later they were landing, the traveler told the outlet.

A man who was seen struggling on the plane initially got off the plane voluntarily, but stubbornly got back on. He was then forcibly removed by Portuguese authorities, who placed him by the head and pulled him out of the plane, the video shows.

The man was filmed being pushed into a police car in a separate video, the publication reported.

Portugal’s Public Security Police confirmed that they were called to deal with the “irregular presence of eight passengers,” Portugal Resident reports.

Officials said they observed passengers “screaming and hitting the cabin luggage locker repeatedly,” as well as “drinking alcoholic beverages and ignoring instructions given by the flight crew.”

“One of the unruly passengers … became hostile, refused to leave and repeatedly disobeyed orders,” police said.

Officers had to use “physical force due to his continued residency,” police said.

The plane took off from Faro at 11:50 a.m. and finally landed at its intended destination at 1:20 p.m., according to flight records.

The Post has contacted Ryanair for comment.
