Sagar Rana, also known as Sagar Dhankad, is the Indian national wrestling champion. The 22-year-old wrestler was killed by a group of people on May 4, 2021.

Sagar Rana was born on Sunday, 23 November 1997 (age 22 years; at time of death) in Jhajjar district of Haryana, India. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He went to a local government school in Jhajjar to receive his primary education. Sagar enrolled himself in Delhi University to pursue his higher studies. He was very fond of wrestling since childhood and started practicing the sport professionally at the age of 6.

Sagar Rana started practicing wrestling techniques at the age of 6. He used to play wrestling at the state level while in school. Later, he learned pehlwani wrestling at Akhada Chattrasal Stadium, Delhi. According to his parents, Sagar was inspired by Sushil Kumar to take up wrestling as his professional career. He has always dreamed of representing India at an International tournament.

Death
Sagar Rana was murdered outside the Chhatrasal stadium parking lot in New Delhi on May 4, 2021. The involvement of India’s two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar was also reported in Sagar Rana’s murder case. Sushil Kumar has been on the run since his alleged involvement in the Sagar Rana murder case came to light. Later, the Delhi Police issued search warrants for Sushil Kumar and Sushil’s associate Ajay Kumar. Delhi Police also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Sushil Kumar and a cash reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for information about Ajay Kumar.
