Controversy
Making out in the Car!
On 28 July 2014, Sahana and Suraj Giri, VJ duo for Kantipur Television Network, were spotted making out in Suraj’s car in Chitwan, Nepal. This incident happened at about 3:00 in the morning when the police saw a car shaking by itself. After peering into the car, they find Sahana and Suraj barely dressed. Sahana posted an official press release on social media and wrote,
This is the official press release of me and my friend Suraj Giri. I am agitated and very hurt by the baseless report that went viral yesterday! Most media continue to publicize it without even following the basics of media ethics. If the police arrest us, can’t anyone at least ask the police what happened?”
In his defence, Sahana said that they were returning from Chitwan after some business. The police caught them while they were changing their car tires. Suraj was slightly under the influence of alcohol, so the police fined him 1,000 Nepalese rupees for drunk driving and released him later. After this incident, they both had to leave Kantipur TV. About his resignation from Kantipur TV, he stated,
I hereby announce that my resignation has been withdrawn and I look forward to returning to Kantipur Tv soon!”
