Sam Hunt dishes on parenting and how much learning he had to do after he had his daughter Lucy Louise.

After being a dad for about a year and waiting for the birth of his second child, Hunt talks about his new role as a father and all the sacrifices he has to make to prepare well.

The Georgia native, who is currently touring North America, took the time to chat ET CanadaCarlos Bustamante on touring with his family, his role as a father, and what his one-year-old son thinks of his national anthem.
More importantly, while maintaining one of country music’s most successful careers, he talks about how becoming a father has put things into perspective for him. “Throwing into a unique reality at the age of 28 or so, it grew me in a lot of ways, and I think it stunted my growth in a lot of ways,” Hunt says of his burgeoning music career.

“There were a few years where maybe I didn’t realize how much growing up I had to do. And having a child forces you to do that,” Hunt explained. He went on to say, “It changes something in your nervous system. There was skin I had to shed, and I did when I had children.”
“I’m just at a place in my life where I really need it, and I’m grateful for that,” explained the 38-year-old star, adding, “I feel like I leveled up in a lot of ways, and now I can see that I have a journey which is far in general right now, but I feel ready for the challenge.”
The “Montevallo” singer emphasized that “more purpose and meaning” has been attributed to her success because she “has a family to come home to.”
Speaking of adding more meaning to his life, the “Leave the Night On” hitmaker is soon to be a father of two. In April, he made the revelation at his recent concert at the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas. At the time, an attendee at the concert confirmed the singer also said Fowler and Lucy would attend the next show.
According to reports, Hunt informed her fans about her and Fowler’s pregnancy with Lucy, similar to the announcement of their second baby. The “Take Your Time” creator shared the news during a performance at Nashville’s Stars for Second Harvest.
She told the audience, “I recently had a baby girl named Lucy Lu. Being here — in the music business and on the road — has hardened my heart. My heart has become harder since I left that small town.”

Hunt later said that Lucy’s presence in his life had melted his hard heart for “a few weeks.” “I’ve been filled with so much gratitude these past few weeks, and I just wanted to say on stage at The Ryman how grateful I am to have been a part of country music for the past ten years,” he added. .

With Hunt and Fowler’s second child on the way, it’s acute to refresh fans on the couple’s history. The couple reportedly met in 2008 and dated for several years. Sometime after that, they eventually broke up but got back together in 2016. Hunt told ET:
“I think last summer I came out [to Hawaii] about seven times in three months. Try to talk to him about going back. And [on] the seventh journey, I assured him.”
In early 2017, reps confirmed that the lovebirds were engaged. The “Make You Miss Me” singer revealed they were “engaged by the Sea of Galilee.” That same year, on April 15, 2017, Hunt and Fowler officially tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Georgia.
After that, Fowler filed for divorce in February 2022. However, two months later, he asked the court to dismiss the case, and the judge signed his request. During this tumultuous time, she became pregnant with their baby girl and gave birth in May.
Hunt shared the news publicly on June 7. The couple, as previously reported, are counting down the days until they become parents to two children.
