Pop sensation Sam Smith is currently facing a huge backlash over the newly released music video for their latest single, “I’m Not Here To Make Friends.” The British artist and Kim Petras previously dominated the charts with their hit single, “Unholy,” and even earned a Grammy nomination for the song.

The Smiths released their fourth studio album, “Gloria,” on January 27. The album, which has 13 tracks, “Unholy” inclusive, was produced by Capitol records and is the artist’s first since “Love Goes” in 2020. The Smiths just released their fourth studio album, “Gloria.” The artist posted the music video to the song from the album, “I’m Not Here To Make Friends,” featuring them in skin-baring outfits as well as some raunchy scenes. While their fans have praised Smith’s videos, others have accused them of “humiliating” and “demeaning” the LGBT community.

The music clip was shared on YouTube on Saturday, January 28, and begins with the artist stepping out of a golden helicopter in a pink get-up, after which they meet a Bacchanalian-themed party. After entering the country mansion, Smith is shown in another equally magnificent black outfit, complete with a magnificent headpiece.

As the video unfolds, Smith is seen in several other eye-catching outfits, one of which shows the artist in a corset, some nipple tassels, a thong, sparkly gloves and an equally sparkly tiara. Smith is also shown being sprayed with a liquid assumed to be water in a somewhat ambiguous manner.

Back-up dancers and extras, who are scantily clad, give mesmerizing and mesmerizing performances throughout the music video. “INHTMF,” produced by Calvin Harris, is said to represent self-expression and joy.

Smith’s video sent social media into a frenzy, with former fans claiming that the artist’s drastic change over the past few years was for the worse. Someone wrote on Twitter“Apparently, these changes are hard fought for “progress.” I think Sam Smith needs some serious help instead of being paraded around like a vulgar character from Little Britain.”

Another post by broadcaster Dominique Samuels read, “Sam Smith is a perfect example of what decadent Hollywood culture does to people.” He continued, “It makes celebrities vulgar, hypersexual, and bigoted by wearing their sexuality like a costume and shoving it in everyone’s face. And worse, kids look up to these guys!”

Speaking to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe last week, Smith revealed that strangers spat on them shortly after they came out as non-binary. The artist talks about their personal life, stating that while their loved ones accept their inclusion, the public is another matter.

“I think all the negativity in the struggle is in my public life and my work. And the amount of hate and hatred that came my way was exhausting,” Smith revealed.

“It’s in the f**king news,” the artist continued. “Someone spat on me on the street. It doesn’t make sense. What I find difficult about it is, if that happens to me and I’m famous, I’m a pop star, can you imagine what other kids, like queer kids, feel?”

They also say that US cities allow them to be more expressive. Smith recalled a time at the White House when “gays and queers” showed up for President Biden’s signing of the Marriage Act, saying it was a “wild feeling.”

Talk with Rolling stone earlier this month, Smith revealed that during their early years in the music industry, they tried to fit in with everyone. Years later, the artists said they got tired of it and decided to be more expressive in their clothes and music.

Smith revealed that they eventually got tired of trying to fit in and went back to “how I was when I was younger.”

They also talked about having difficulty expressing their sex and happiness through their music. Smith continued, “I ran into this world, and it was not the world I thought it would be. I’m afraid to say certain things… my sex is in music, my happiness is in music.”

They revealed that they were more comfortable expressing other parts of themselves but decided that they needed to “break themselves.”
