San Francisco rapper and business owner releases ‘diss track’ slamming city leaders over crime: ‘Great city into a zombie land’

A San Francisco-based rapper and business owner released a new “controversial song” slamming the city and its mayor over an ongoing crime wave and an increase in anti-Asian attacks.

Chino Yang, 35, dropped the song “San Francisco Our Home” last week in which he criticized Mayor London Breed and local leaders after his own Alamo Square eatery, Kung Food, was broken into for the seventh time since the outbreak.

“I had no choice but to record this song,” Yang said at the beginning of the song’s music video, which was partially shot at his Chinese restaurant.

Famous for his performances in the very popular Chinese talent show “The Rap of China” and similar shows.

He said it was a struggle to support his family amid rising burglaries and crime.

He blamed Breed for the level of crime in the Bay Area and insulted the mayor in several lyrics.

“Everybody let me see your hands in the air,” Yang sang. “Now throw your two middle fingers at the mayor.

“Now your London Breed ain’t nothing but a clown,” he raps in another line. “When we really needed you, you were never there. You have turned this great city into a zombie land.”

Yang, who grew up in San Francisco, referred to the recent car break-ins that have plagued the city and showed a clip of a news segment about the crime wave.

“If you go to San Francisco, make sure you don’t leave anything in your car. If you go to San Fransisco make sure you don’t leave no money in the wallet,” he sang, referring to the lyrics from the 1960s folk song “San Francisco” by Scott McKenzie.

The small business owner, who wore a hoodie with “Stop Asian hate” written on it, also came after city officials for what he said was a lack of justice in several anti-Asian hate crimes committed after the outbreak.

“They were attacked. They are getting robbed. They’re going to be killed and the DA just drops another murder charge,” raps Yang of the Asian American who lives in the city.

“I’m sick and tired of dealing with fake liberals. They act like they care but never consider us equal to them. My people have been here for over 200 years so save your fake sympathy and your crocodile tears,” he rapped.

Yang called Mayor London Breed by name and said he was a “clown” in his rap song. AP

“I am sick and tired of Asains being kicked to the side of the road. Justice for Granpa Vicha and lil Jasper was never served,” he said referring to the high-profile murders of 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee and 2-year-old Jasper Wu.

Both cases were pending in court.

Breed’s office did not immediately return a request for comment.
