I started walking the ramp for choreographers and designers like Sunil Menon, Srini Subramanian and Dalu; in 2012 I went on to participate in the Miss South India pageant. I think fashion is more like cricket where you need good batsmen, bowlers and fielders to give a good match. Likewise, in my field, designers, fashion choreographers and models all play the same role — we all work as a team so I can’t pick a favourite.”

In 2013, Sanchana won the Tamil reality show Pesum Kadhanayagi, a talent search show for Tamil-speaking actors, following which, Sanchana got an opportunity to play a pivotal role in Balaji Sakthivel Ra Ra Rajasekhar; however, due to financial problems faced by the producers, the film remained unreleased. In an interview, Sanchana spoke about the same and said,
This reality show was a stepping stone to success as I got offers to act in films like Nerungi Va Muthamidadhey, Balaji Sakthivel’s Ra Ra Rajasekar and others. Yes, I am acting with Superstar in one of his upcoming films. I’m really excited to act with a legend like him — it’s definitely a dream come true.”
In 2014, Sanchana made her acting debut with the Tamil film Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe where she played the role of Maya’s friend.

In 2016, he worked in the Tamil film Irudhi Suttru where he played the role of a boxing student. The Tamil film Irudhi Suttru has also been filmed in Hindi titled ‘Saala Khadoos.’ In 2021, she appeared in the Tamil film Jagame Thandhiram opposite Karthik Subbaraj and Dhanush. In an interview, Sanchana spoke about her experience working with Tamil director Karthik and said that he is one of her favorite directors. He said,
I think my trip was worth it. I wouldn’t have got the opportunity to work with Karthik Subbaraj sir and Dhanush sir if I had taken a different path. I was a little nervous, but he made me feel comfortable. I sat there all day, watching her act and dance so effortlessly. Whether it’s the first take or the third take, he brings the same amount of energy to his performance. That level of consistency is something to look up to Dhanush, a master like Chitti, a robot, he understands his character completely, and I am very happy that Karthik has cast me in this film as well.”

In 2017, Sanchana made her digital debut with Balaji Mohan who wrote and directed the Telugu serial As I’m Suffering From Kadhal in which she played the role of Divya. In an interview, he discussed his web series As I’m Suffering From Kadhal and said he gained a huge following after working in a Telugu series. He quoted,
The attention I got was something I did not expect. But what’s even more interesting is that people come up to me and discuss my character at length. You can say I am 90 percent of Divya. I too, believe in love, but marriage is a difficult concept for me to believe in. Like other girls, I also dreamed of a big wedding, but as I grew up, my views changed. I think people will think my character is a bit selfish for not wanting to get married. I was surprised that the opposite happened! We also got tweets from many who said the series had made them rethink marriage and relationships. In fact, my parents also found it logical and legitimate for someone not to want to get married.”
