In 2002, he made his acting debut with the Hindi television series Kuchh Jhuki Si Palkein on Sony TV. He played the role of Sahil Virani in the popular soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000) where he shared the screen with former actresses Smriti Irani and Mandira Bedi.

All the sources their team approached quoted huge amounts and asked them if they had Bhatt’s permission to use his footage; however, Sandeep and his wife wrote an email to Alia Bhatt directly and to their surprise, she replied. Later, Alia’s team made sure Sandeep’s film had everything they needed.
