According to initial police reports, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his wife, Kanchan Sharma, who then took him to Mumbai’s SRV Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Hours before killing himself, Sandeep had posted a video with a suicide note (in the caption) on his Facebook profile. In the video as well as in the suicide note, he revealed his disillusionment with his married life and the constant torture by his wife and mother. He asked his wife and mother-in-law to take responsibility for him taking extreme measures. He also briefly mentioned politics. Here is an excerpt from the suicide note left by Sandeep.
“I have seen many joys and sorrows in life. I faced every problem, but the trauma I experienced today was beyond tolerance. I was dead from suicide a long time ago, but I chose to give myself time and hope that my relationship with my wife would improve, but it didn’t. I now have nowhere to go. I don’t know what awaits me after I take this step, but I have been through hell in this life. I know that suicide is a cowardly act. I also have to live, but what is the point of living like this where there is no peace and self-respect.”
