Sandra Bernhard is involved in litigation with a former manager who accuses her of defrauding the charity out of money.

The comedian was accused of doing several things including raising his fees. According to her former manager, James Sliman who started working with the actress in 2013 and continued for 11 years revealed that she was a kind of terrorist.
In July, she filed a lawsuit against him in New York in which she seeks $250k from him for alleged breach of contract, wrongful termination, and commissions and fees she says are still outstanding.
He also claimed in court documents obtained by Daily Mail that he forced her to do “many irresponsible, questionable and embarrassing things” in the 11 years he worked as her manager.
He also accused her of creating a “hostile” work space that essentially made it difficult for her to get her job done.
‘Fake Invoice’ From Sandra Bernhard

One of Sliman’s biggest accusations against Bernhard was that he used “fake invoices” to increase his booking fees. She also allegedly cheated places out of merchandise revenue, “In dozens of instances, maybe hundreds, Ms. Bernhard forced me to send fake invoices from her to charities, LGBT charities, television shows, documentary filmmakers etc… who wanted to interview her. “
His description of Bernhard’s actions makes him look like someone who knowingly and willingly deceives people. “Whether or not she’s paid her fees, she’s going to insist that I ask them to cover the cost of her hair and makeup.”
The allegations persist. “When they agreed, he would tell me to say it cost $1,000 when it was only $2-300.”
Sandra Bernhard ‘Supplementing Her Income’

The comedian, best known for her role on Roseanne in the 90s, allegedly had an elaborate plan. Sliman claimed that after he sent the invoice to Bernhard, he would only “get money” and quickly “become a small way to supplement his income.”
He also mentioned that this was from “a woman who everyone knows is a multi-millionaire.” He went on to share that he was ultimately wrongfully terminated by Bernhard in July after he “couldn’t admit that his live shows were now selling poorly and the fees he was asking for were too high.” He also claimed that he also tried to cheat some places out of their salaries as well.

Bernhard apparently “had various ways of not paying the place 20 percent of the sale of his merchandise, which was standard. He would just refuse to pay it, or tell them they could only have 10 percent or just lie about how much he sold.”
This was possible because the place was “cash only” and he “would tell me he never reported the money to his accountant.”
Silman also claimed that he was a shoulder to cry on for Bernhard but realized he “started asking more of me” and “took extreme advantage of our business relationship and used me to do the work of up to four people.”
