Sanjay Goradia is an Indian actor, director and producer who has produced and acted in more than a hundred Gujarati plays. He has also worked as an actor in several Hindi and Gujarati films and has produced many television shows (Hindi and Gujarati).

Sanjay Goradia was born on Thursday, 17 September 1959 (age 64 years; in 2023) in Delvada, Gujarat. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He attended Lilavati Lalji Dayal High School, Mumbai. He is a graduate. Sanjay was born in Gujarat but moved to Mumbai when he was a child. He lives in a chawl on a farm. His father suffered from tobacco and alcohol addiction, which caused daily fights and greatly affected Sanjay. Her school fees were sometimes not paid on time, and her school clothes were never clean. Sanjay faced many difficulties since childhood. He mentioned in an interview that he had an older sister who died when he was around 2 years old. His brother Paresh also died when he was around 16 or 17 years old. His father suffered a stroke when Sanjay was only 18 years old. After his father died, they managed their expenses through their family’s Ayurvedic shop. It is located on the main road below the jam factory in Lalbagh. Uncle Sanjay Ramesh looks after the shop and also helps with their expenses. During difficult times at home, his youngest sister became addicted to alcohol. He often asked their mother for money. After seeing the situation at home, he started working in a medical store. In 1979, he started making plays and sending money to his family. He wanted to act, but due to his financial situation and lack of connections in the industry, he started working behind the scenes. He doesn’t act seriously because he thinks better looking people are struggling, so he might not have a chance.

Sanjay’s mother’s name is Jyotsna Goradia, who is a theater artiste.

Career
Sanjay’s theatrical journey began in 1979 when he worked behind the scenes for the play “Pagla Ghoda,” directed by Latesh Shah and performed at Elphinstone College. Sanjay remained dedicated to working behind the scenes and progressed from production manager to producer. He used to do small roles in several plays, and when he found a financial backer, he started producing plays. After that, he got the opportunity to work as Shafi Inamdar’s assistant. They collaborated to produce many Gujarati dramas.

- Sanjay follows a non-vegetarian diet.
- His first successful Hindi play was “Maa Retire Hoti Hai” in 1999, which brought him a lot of fame. Following this hit, he bought a house and immediately married the first girl he met. When his son was born, he bought a new house in Lokhanvala. He invited his mother to stay with them, but his mother insisted that he bring his younger brother with him. Sanjay is hesitant to bring his addicted younger brother with him.
- In an interview, he mentioned that every time he sent money home, his brother would take it and push their father to ask for more money.
- When Sanjay produced his first Gujarati play “Chhel dan Chhabo,” he wanted to include Dilip Joshi in the cast, but Dilip was busy at the time. After waiting for some time and not finding another actor, director Latesh Shah suggested that Sanjay himself take on the role. Sanjay initially said no, but eventually, as he could not find a suitable replacement, he agreed to act in the play.
