In 2019, Sapthami Gowda made her acting debut with the Kannada film Popcorn Monkey Tiger in which she played the lead role of Girija.

In 2022, she appeared in the Kannada film Kantara where she played the lead role of Leela. In an interview, Sapthami explained the character of Leela she played in the Kannada film ‘Kantara’ and quoted,
The character I play has just finished his formal training to be part of the forest department. His first posting was in a village. Leela is calm and composed and a girl who knows her mind. I acted as the female lead sir Rishab and my character has taught me that a thousand words can be said in silence. He is someone who can speak even without uttering a word and this fascinates me as an actor.”

Swimming
At the age of five, Sapthami Gowda started her swimming training. In 2006, he won the gold medal at the state level swimming event held in Mangaluru. In the same year, he won a Bronze medal in the relay at the Nationals held at Jain’s residential school, Bangalore. After that, he won medals in various swimming competitions such as two gold medals and two silver medals at the 2009 State level competition held in Bangaluru and a bronze medal and two gold medals at the National swimming competition held in Jaipur. In 2010, he won the gold medal at the Indian Triathlon Federation held in Indore, India. In an interview, Sapthami’s mother, Shantha Madiah, spoke about Sapthami’s career in swimming and said,
He has won bronze, silver and gold medals in almost all the swimming competitions he has participated in.”

Controversy
In 2022, the film Kantara directed by Sapthami Gowda was accused of plagiarism by music group Thaikkudam Bridge. According to the band, the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ from the movie Kantara is a copy of the Kannada music album ‘Navarasam.’ The band Thaikkudam Bridge also appealed to their listeners to spread the word about copyright infringement. Thaikkudam Bridge shared a post on Instagram about the issue of plagiarism with a caption that read,
We would like our listeners to know that Thaikkudam Bridge is in no way affiliated with “Kantara”. Therefore, the inevitable similarity between our IP “Navarasam” and “Varaha Roopam” in terms of audio is a blatant violation of copyright laws. From our point of view, the line between “Inspiration” and “Plagiarized” is distinct and indisputable and therefore, we will demand legal action against the creative team responsible for this. There is no acknowledgment of our rights over the content and the song is distributed as an Original work by the creative team of the film (sic).”

- Soon after completing his BE in Civil Engineering, he started working as an associate software engineer at Accenture in Bengaluru, India.
- In an interview, Sapthami Gowda recalled her Kannada film ‘Kantara’ and said that she attended an accent modification workshop for the film. He quoted,
Actually, Rishab (Shetty) sir is hunting for a face, which is suitable for the film. And he found my picture on Instagram and that’s how he called me for an audition and a look test and then the look was really good. But the original movie in Kannada is Mangalore Kannada but I am from Bangalore, so there is a language mismatch there. So the accent and everything. So we started a workshop on character and language. So that took about two months or so and then during this process, the most interesting and the selling point of everything was when I went to see the master on the first day, he showed me a clip of what you see like Coke and Daiva on YouTube. So, as soon as I watched it, I said to myself, I have to do everything from my end to be a part of this film because it is a big learning curve for me. I was born and brought up in Bangalore, I lived in Karnataka for 25-26 years and I had no idea about this kind of culture. So, it was a big learning process for me.”
