Career
Before making his film debut, he worked with Charbak, Jochhon Dastidar’s theater group for almost six years. He later joined his father’s theater group, Biswarupa. He started his career as an actor in a Hindi TV series directed by Saibal Mitra, which was based on Samaresh Majumdar’s Kaalpurush. She played the role of Topshe in the television series directed by Sandip Ray.
He has acted in many Bengali films including ‘Aamar Bhuvan’ (2002), ‘Abar Aranye’ (2003), ‘Aabar Asibo Phire’ (2004), ‘Teen Yaari Katha’ (2006), ‘Rang Milanti’ (2011), ‘Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana’ (2016), ‘Basu Poribar’ (2019), ‘Sannyasi Deshonayok’ (2020), and ‘Habuchandra Raja Gabuchandra Mantri’ (2020).
He gained immense popularity with Sujoy Ghosh’s 2012 Hindi film, ‘Kahaani’ in which he played the role of the killer ‘Bob Biswas.’
He played the role of “Tutti Futti” aka “Biplab Bagchi” in the Bollywood movie, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ (2017).
In 2017, he appeared in the short film, ‘Mickey & Mimi.’ In the same year, he acted in ALT Balaji’s Bengali web series, ‘Dhimaner Dinkaal.’
He was roped in the 2020 Hindi film, ‘Dil Bechara’ starring Late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi.
