Beginning Year

Satish Maneshinde came to Mumbai from his hometown in Karnataka after graduating in law to become a lawyer. In 1983, he started working as a junior lawyer under the renowned lawyer and one of the leading criminal lawyers of the country late Ram Jethmalani. I had heard and read about Ram Jethmalani when I was a school student. In 1983, I accidentally met him at the Bombay High Court and mustered up the courage to ask him to take me on as his protégé. I was called to his office the same evening and he agreed. I had the opportunity to work with him 18 hours a day in the early stages of my career.”

High Profile Case

After a decade working under Jethmalani, Satish got his first high-profile criminal case in 1993, when he and his legal team defended Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in the Mumbai blasts case. The criminal lawyer managed to get bail for the actor after which Maneshinde came into limelight. Further, he also represented Dutt in the Arms Act 2007 case. Gradually, his association with celebrities made Satish Maneshinde one of the leading criminal lawyers in the country.

In 1998, Satish was approached by Bollywood actor Salman Khan to represent him in a Blackbuck poaching case, and again in a hit-and-run case in 2002. In both cases, the lawyer managed to get Khan out of the mess. In 2010, he represented model-actress Rakhi Sawant in an aiding and abetting suicide case. Maneshinde was also actress Rhea Chakraborty’s first choice in 2020 to represent her in the controversial conspiracy to commit suicide case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the same year, he also donned the hat of Special Public Prosecutor in the Palghar death penalty case. In October 2021, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was listed on Maneshinde’s celebrity client list after he was arrested by the NCB in a Mumbai drug case. Apart from this, Maneshinde is also known for his other popular crime cases like Chhota Rajan’s wife Sujata Nikalje’s crime case, Mumbai Police Inspector Daya Nayak’s famous disproportionate assets case, bookie Shoban Mehta’s match fixing case and many more.
