Sean “Diddy” Combs and R&B singer Cassie on Friday settled a lawsuit she filed a day earlier that accused the music producer and legendary rapper of raping and physically abusing her for more than a decade.
The two sides “settled the claim … to mutual satisfaction,” Cassie’s lawyer announced without disclosing terms of the settlement.
“I have decided to resolve this amicably provided that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support,” Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura, wrote in a statement.
Combs, 54, added in his own statement: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish the best for Cassie and her family.”
Ventura had alleged in the brief suit that Combs regularly fed her drugs and alcohol, forced her to have sex with male prostitutes and brutally raped and beat her shortly after meeting him from 2005 to 2018.
The “Me & U” singer claims the on-and-off-again public relationship she once called a “truly inspiring experience” was brutal beneath the surface.
Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura, said she reached a settlement “well.”
“After years of silence and darkness, I’m finally ready to tell my story, and speak up for myself and for the benefit of other women facing violence and abuse in their relationships,” Ventura, 37, said in a statement. at the time the suit was filed.
The shocking lawsuit, filed Thursday in Manhattan federal court, inspired several other entertainment A-listers to show support for Ventura, who was just a teenager when 37-year-old Combs signed him to his label and allegedly began pursuing him relentlessly.
Among the chilling allegations, the “Step Up 2: The Streets” actress claims Combs – who is prone to “uncontrollable rages” – “frequently” and “brutally” beat her so badly she had to stay in a hotel for weeks in time.

The alleged attacks often took place in front of other business associates who were too afraid to intervene against one of the most famous names in hip-hop, according to the suit.
Whenever Ventura tried to distance himself from the Bad Boy Records founder, he was threatened that his music career would be affected and was once explicitly told his records would be shelved, he claims.
Combs is accused in the suit of giving him a steady stream of opiates and alcohol to keep him compliant, which led to a substance abuse problem and may have contributed to his diagnosed memory loss.
The music mogul also allegedly pressured Ventura to regularly meet with male prostitutes while he filmed, directed and masturbated – an arrangement he called “Freak Off.”
Combs controlled every aspect of Ventura’s life, including his money, health care, living conditions and career — and blew up fellow musician Kid Cudi’s car when he learned he had a brief encounter with Ventura while they were out, he alleges.
When she finally found the courage in 2018 to leave Combs for good, she claims he pushed her into her apartment and raped her one last time.

Combs “vehemently” denied the allegations after the suit was filed, claiming her ex had demanded $30 million from her over the past six months “under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which she vehemently denied as outright blackmail.”
A series of resurfaced interviews with several other A-listers — including Combs’ ex-flame — however, portray the “I’ll Be Missing You” singer as a serial abuser.
Gina Huynh, who goes by the nickname Virginia V, said in a 2019 interview that Combs stomped on her stomach and punched her in the head during their five-year relationship.
Back in 2004, Def Jam Recordings founder Russell Simmons claimed Combs threatened to kill and beat his model wife Kimora Lee Simmons, who was pregnant at the time.
Several members of the girl group Danity Kane, which Combs formed on MTV’s “Making the Band” in 2005, supported Ventura after the allegations came to light.
“Been trying to tell you for years,” said member Aubrey O’Day.
