Secret Service agents protecting Biden’s granddaughter open fire after 3 people try to break into SUV

WASHINGTON – A Secret Service agent assigned to protect President Biden’s grandson opened fire late Sunday on a group of people who tried to break into an unmarked Secret Service car, officials said.

Agents guarding the 29-year-old lawyer’s home in Washington’s Georgetown neighborhood arrested three people trying to break into an unmarked Secret Service vehicle.

“[A]round 11:58 p.m. … Secret Service agents found three individuals possibly breaking a window on a parked and unoccupied government vehicle,” said Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

“During this encounter, a federal agent discharged his service weapon and it is believed that no one was hit,” Guglielmi said.

“The offender immediately fled the scene in a red vehicle and the regional surveillance equipment was issued to the support unit. There is no threat to any protected party and the incident is being investigated by the DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service.”

A neighbor of the first granddaughter told The Post that they were walking the site around 11pm – about an hour before the meeting – and the street was “dead” with no one outside in the cold weather.

The Secret Service, which has dedicated parking, monitors the block from a unit near Naomi and “would have noticed it happening because it was so dead,” the neighbor said.

A spokesperson for the DC Police Department referred The Post to the Secret Service when asked if the perpetrator was still at large.

The national capital has seen a drastic increase in car thefts and car thefts this year. In the past year, police have received reports of more than 750 car thefts and more than 6,000 stolen vehicles.

The issue has become so prevalent that lawmakers are also affected. Last month, US Representative Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) was kidnapped at gunpoint near the Capitol by three armed assailants.

Meanwhile, the County police department has issued a series of drastic recommendations to would-be drivers in hopes of preventing more crime — including “ALWAYS keep your doors locked and windows rolled up,” “drive in the center lane to make it difficult for car thieves to approach,” “avoid drive alone,” and “don’t stop to help a stranger whose car breaks down.”

Naomi, Hunter Biden’s eldest daughter, was married at the White House last fall after staying there with the president ahead of her big day.

Previously, he lived in a luxury apartment building that offered a rare direct view of executive mansions and other DC landmarks from its rooftop.

She moved to Georgetown after a honeymoon in the Seychelles.

Naomi recently made headlines following reports that she allegedly vandalized the US Capitol in 2011 as a Senate page — and as an adult she worked for the Peruvian government, despite corruption allegations against the president because of her ties to the foreign ventures of Naomi’s father and James’ uncle.
