Seven-time American Ninja warrior star says Southwest Airlines shamed her ‘inappropriate’ outfit

A veteran American Ninja Warrior contestant was allegedly shamed by a Southwest Airlines flight attendant for wearing “inappropriate” clothing.

Maggi Thorne, a seven-time American Ninja Warrior contestant, was wearing high-waisted Nike sneakers and a black top aboard Flight 1039 when she said a Southwest flight attendant asked her to cover up.

“The @SouthwestAir attendant just humiliated me in front of the passengers saying my clothes were inappropriate,” Thorne wrote Friday at Xformerly known as Twitter.

“Will this really happen in 2023? The passengers around me were shocked because he embarrassed me for everyone to hear.”

Thorne believed there was nothing wrong with her dress, and that the flight attendant was out of line since Southwest doesn’t have any formal dress policy, prohibiting only “lewd, lascivious, or overtly offensive clothing.”

The athlete refused a flight attendant’s request to cover up, and said she complained to other crew members when her flight to Nashville was docked in Orlando.

“It’s very embarrassing,” he told Insider.

Thorne added that when the offending flight attendant came back to check in on him, the American Ninja Warrior contestant stood his ground.

“When I told him I wasn’t OK, I don’t think he knew what to do,” Thorne said. “I’m not a confrontational person, but what happened is not good and someone has to say something about it.”

Southwest Airlines has since contacted Thorne, offered him an apology and informed him that a complaint had been filed on his behalf.

Southwest Airlines did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Thorne’s case is not the first time Southwest has received backlash against crew members who allegedly shamed women for their clothing.

Last year, actress Melinna Bobadilla, best known for her recurring role on Netflix’s “Gentefied,” shared a viral tweet complaining that she was kicked off a Southwest flight after defending a woman who was “slut-shamed” for wearing a “tank top. that is considered too revealing.”

The debate over women’s clothing on airplanes previously erupted in 2020 when Kayla Eubanks, from Chicago, revealed that she was kicked off her Southwest flight because of her low-cut black halter top.

“All in all I was BLOWN off my @SouthwestAir flight because my breasts were ‘obscene, obscene and offensive.’ I was told that passengers might see me in my clothes and be offended,” Eubanks wrote in a viral tweet.
