The explosion occurred around 7:15 p.m. inside the ADM complex in Decatur, a city with a population of about 70,000, the company said in a statement.

The explosion was enough to shake nearby houses, neighbors told WAND.
The plant was evacuated, but the Decatur Fire Department said no private homes needed to be cleaned.
Multiple agencies are monitoring the situation and expect to release new information as the investigation continues.

“My team and I are in contact with local officials while monitoring the situation at ADM this afternoon,” Rep. Nikki Budzinski (R-IL) said to Xformerly known as Twitter.
The fire is the third at ADM this year, and comes less than 12 weeks after firefighters put out a “very labor intensive” blaze at the same plant.
Two smoke eaters who responded were rushed to the hospital for injuries sustained during the fight but were later released in good condition.
In April, three workers were injured in a separate explosion at ADM’s western plant.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
